This park is a hidden gem in Morcote: botanical garden with statues and replicas of monuments from around the world. It was bought over in 1930s by a textile magnate, Arthur Scherrer, who was also a passionate gardener. Then he sought about transforming the land his own “Garden of Wonders”.
The park is made up of two areas, each with a predominant style: one Mediterranean and one Asian. As you enter, you will first wind your way through the Mediterranean-style gardens , designed in Renaissance and Baroque style, and then continuing through an oriental landscape of bamboo forests, with Siamese, Arab and Indian-inspired buildings.
While the parjk could use a bit of maintenance, the charm lies in its romantic, natural feel!
If you are planning on spending a full day exploring Morcote, then i recommend coming here in the afternoon before heading to the Church of Santa Maria del Sasso.
