No trip to Gruyères is complete without a stroll through its medieval old town! Did you know? History has it that the founder of Gruyères caught a crane (which is “Grue” in French) and picked it as his heraldic animal, hence inspiring the village’s name.
The town square is small but very picturesque, you can spend about an hour just admiring the postcard worthy views. Along the square, there are also numerous restaurants where you can stop by for lunch
