Perched on a hill above Lake Lugano, this view of the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Sasso is one of the most beautiful spots in the tiny village.
Originally built in the 15th century, this church offers not only stunning religious frescoes on its ceilings inside, but also extraordinary views over Morcote's old town and the stunning lake and mountains beyond.
The walk is short but demanding (that’s why it’s called the Way of the Cross!), but we were completely mesmerized by the views...and it’s well worth the climb. Make sure you wear good walking shoes for this!
