Stein am Rhein is a charming and historic town located in the canton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Very underrated, but extremely cute!

Walking through the Old Town certainly feels like stepping back in time. The streets are pedestrianized, and many of the buildings are adorned with colourful frescoes. The town's rich history dates back to Emperor Henry II, who moved St George's Abbey to Stein am Rhein in the 11th century. Today, Stein am Rhein is known for its architectural heritage and has received recognition for its preservation efforts. It's a delightful place to explore and immerse yourself in history while enjoying the picturesque setting along the Rhine River.

I would combine this as a pitstop after visiting the Rhine Falls since it is not too far only half an hour away from Schaffhausen.
