This is a Zurich institution gem, both in a historical and culinary sense, despite being in a very touristy area The building itself is already worth a visit: it has been around since 1802, and customers have been leaving their mark in the restaurant by etching their names and quirky messages into the cozy wooden benches and walls of the "Oeli" wine bar.
The Oepfelkammer is all about serving up the best dishes from Zurich and the surrounding region, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. It's a bit of a time warp with a side of delicious food: Think Niederdord salad, rosti sausages with lentils and potatos, pork shoulder with sauerkrau, apple, horse radish and potatoes.
Vegetarian options are available too.
