Vevey is a charming town nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva. Just 10 minutes by train from Lausanne, it is known for its picturesque views and rich history. Did you know that Vevey is also home to the headquarters of Nestlé, where milk chocolate was invented back in 1875? The town also has ties to Charlie Chaplin, who lived here until his passing in 1977. With a mix of stunning landscapes, cultural heritage, and a thriving chocolate industry, it is one of the best daytrip ideas from Lausanne!
The best thing to do in Vevey is to stroll along its promenade (be sure to take a photo with the famous Fork floating on the lake!) and enjoy the amazing views of the French alps. If you come on a Saturday, you can visit the bustling weekend market by the lake, which is such a wonderful local experience.
