Grindelwald First is called the Adventure Mountain of Switzerland and rightfully so! There's such a fun array of outdoor activities you can do here:

• the First Cliff Walk presented by Tissot,

• the First Flyer where you can whiz along the steel cable at up to 84km per hour,

• the First Glider letting you soar through the mountain landscape at high speeds,

• the Mountain Kart from Schreckfeld to Grindelwald, or

• the Trottibike Scooter from Bort to Grindelwald.

If you are more of a hiker, you can also consider doing a scenic hike towards Bachalpsee! This hike is 3 km one way from Grindelwald First to the Bachalpsee lake, and takes about 1 hour walking time. After visiting the lake, you can hike back the way you came and ride the gondola down. It’s a relatively easy hike that you can easily fit into a half-day if necessary. This hike is also best done during the summer/autumn months from June to October.

Some tips to take note:

• If you are a holder of the Berner Oberland Pass or Jungfrau Travel Pass, this mountain is free. Otherwise, the return-ticket cost of the cablecar itself (without the activities) is 32CHF (with Swiss Travel Pass or Half-Fare card).

• Entrance to the First Cliff Walk is included in your pass!

• For the 4 other adventure activity, you need to pay for them separately, either as a single activity (21 to 31CHF each), or you can buy the Grindelwald Adventure Ticket (starting from 50CHF with the Swiss Travel Pass or Half-Fare card) which includes the cost of the return cable-car and the activities.

• If you intend to do any of the activities, I strongly suggest that you arrive early in the morning and queue for them immediately, because they are extremely popular and the waiting lines can be long.

• For First Flyer and First Glider, you cannot bring your bags along with you for the ride. You can leave it at the ride station itsellf (for First Glider only, since you will return back to the starting point). It's best to either hand it over to someone else, or deposit your bags at the lockers at Grindelwaad station.
