Wineglass Bay is one of Tasmania’s most iconic beaches and an absolute must-visit on any Tassie road trip. Renowned for its stunning beauty and pristine conditions, this bay truly deserves its spot on the bucket list. You might find it interesting (and a bit sad) that the name "Wineglass Bay" doesn’t come from the shape of the bay, but rather from the red-stained waters of the whaling days, a surprising twist on what you might expect.

For an unforgettable experience, I recommend taking on the Wineglass and Hazards Beach Trail, which turns your visit into a full-day adventure. This walk is about 6.2 kilometers in total and includes a fair number of steps, so be sure to carry enough water to stay hydrated.

If you can, make sure to stop at the lookout before heading down to the beach. The views from there are truly epic and will take your breath away. Once you reach the beach, the sugar-white sands are perfect for lounging and soaking up the sun. For a more peaceful experience and a stunning view, consider walking further down to the end of the beach. Not only will you avoid the crowds, but you’ll also enjoy an incredible view of the mountains across the ocean, something you can’t see from the closer end of the beach.
