Safari tips for solo travellers!

Here are some top tips if you are a solo traveller looking to book a safari in Tanzania!

1. Join a group tour! This will help bring the overall cost of your safari down and is a wonderful way to travel! Group tours are often run in groups of 6 or more Tanzania. Group tours however, do limit the flexibility and you aren't able to move around the truck as easily, so photo opportunities could be far more limited!

2. If you do join a group tour, be sure to check if there are any luggage restrictions as there will be limited room in the truck!

3. Opt to stay at a lodge or tented camp that runs game drives from the accommodation itself! That way you will share your game drives with other guests staying at the accommodation.

4. Walking safaris are also another great option to experience a safari and generally operated in groups.

5. Opt for a company that will also organise your transport to and from the airport.

6. Opt to stay at a smaller camp or lodge as it will be easier to get to know the other guests staying in the lodge.

1. Be aware of single supplement fees from tours and accommodation! Most accommodation options offer rooms for two guests and as such there may be a 'single supplement' fee added to your cost. In some cases this can be up to 50%! Some accommodations may reduce this cost but this would usually happen when you're travelling in lower season or for last minute bookings. Try and look for companies and accommodation options that have lower fees, or no fees at all.

2. Consider travelling during the wet season as this is when prices will be at their lowest and the single supplement fees can sometimes be waivered.

3. Consider staying in a hostel. These are usually located outside of the parks, but are a great way to connect with other travellers!
