Mystic Beach is one of the most scenic spots on Vancouver Island, known for its waterfall that cascades directly into the ocean and its rugged coastal beauty. The trailhead is located at the China Beach user parking lot, about an hour's drive from Victoria. You can take the West Coast Trail Express bus from Sooke without driving. When you arrive, turn right immediately after entering the lot to find parking for Mystic Beach. There's usually plenty of space, so there's no need to stress about that—focus on the adventure ahead!

The 2.1 km trail is part of the Juan de Fuca Trail and is moderately challenging. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the beach. While it's a popular hike, expect rough sections with exposed tree roots and plenty of mud, especially after rain. But the reward at the end is worth it—a stunning waterfall flows right onto the beach, and a hidden sea cave is just a short walk away.

The best time to visit is in the afternoon or evening when the sun illuminates the cliffs and water. If you're staying to catch the sunset, bring a headlamp for the hike back—the forest gets incredibly dark once the sun goes down. Mystic Beach may take some effort to reach, but its wild beauty makes it one of Vancouver Island's must-visit coastal spots.
