The Shafer Trail Viewpoint offers an amazing view of the Shafer Switchbacks, and facing east, makes it an awesome alternative to Mesa Arch for sunrise. I actually prefer to shoot sunrise here then head to Mesa Arch for golden light illuminating under the arch instead of battling the crowds.
