Wiadomość od Katarína Lepšíková

The Old New Synagogue, also known as Staronová Synagoga, is Europe's oldest active synagogue located in Prague, Czech Republic. Built in 1270, it boasts a unique twin-nave design and Gothic architecture. Legend has it that angels brought stones from the Temple in Jerusalem to construct the synagogue "on condition" they be returned when the Messiah comes. The interior features a double-nave layout with twelve windows representing the twelve tribes of Israel. Separate seating for men and women is observed during services, and a mysterious red flag with a Star of David and a "Jewish hat" hangs prominently inside.

Info

It is no longer possible to purchase separate admission to the Old Synagogue. The synagogue has been part of the Jewish Town circuit since 1 January 2024.
