Lake O'Hara in Yoho National Park is a hidden gem that offers stunning alpine scenery and wilderness experiences. Access to this area is managed through shuttle bus reservations, with options for day visits, camping, or staying at rustic accommodations like the Elizabeth Parker Hut or Lake O'Hara Lodge. The campground has limited sites, so booking in advance is essential.

This is by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever visited and would make the dreamiest elopement location. To access the lake you have to reserve a bus ticket (more info below) or hike up the 11km road. Visitors are limited here which makes it the perfect spot to escape the crowds and experience the beauty of nature. The best time to visit is August, or September if you want the golden larches. Getting access to this lake is a bit of a gamble and is not guaranteed until they draw spots so we’d have to have a backup location in case we aren’t able to get tickets.

How to access: 

If you just want to go for the day, you can book a spot on the bus which will take you up the 11km road to the lake. To score a seat on the bus you’ll need to submit an application in April ($10 per application, up to 6 dates and 6 seats) and they are then drawn at random. I recommend booking one of the earliest times available so you have lots of time to spend there. RESERVE HERE
