If you plan to visit multiple places in Lombardy, like Milan, Lake Como, Bergamo, Brescia or more, then this card is perfect for you!
Visiting Lombardy (or Piedmont) for several days or more? This tip will save you tons of money.
There's a card you can get called 'Abbonamento Musei', it costs €30 if you're under 26 years old or €52 for 27 years old and above.
The card is valid for 365 days, so if you live in Lombardy for a few months, it's certainly perfect for you. But even if you're just visiting for a few days, it can save you a lot of money.
With this card, you can get free unlimited entry to some of the best museums in the region. It made art available to me at practically zero cost.
Some of the places it includes are:
Duomo + the Terraces (but for the terraces they have now changed it to 1 entry only). It's still great value, as the entry for Duomo and the terraces alone is €20+
Some great museums in Milan: Pinacoteca di Brera, Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, the Sforza Castle Museums, The Scala Theatre, Gallerie d'Italia, GAM, and more
For reference, entries for these museums range from €10 to €15 each
As mentioned the card is valid also for other places in Lombardy, you'll likely go to Lake Como, and Villa Monastero (my favourite) and its botanical gardens are included in the card. You can also access the gardens of Villa Carlotta.
Have a look at their website and see what places might interest you and see if it's good value for you or not.
I think if you plan to visit a few villas in Lake Como + some museums in Milan, this alone makes the card a great choice.
How to get the card: After purchasing, you'll get a digital card that you can show at ticket booths at museums. You can also receive a physical card, but a digital one is enough I guess.
Downside: The only downside I can think of, it's that you can't get tickets online, so you'll have to queue and wait to get your ticket.
I never had a problem accessing the museum, for the most popular (Duomo and Villa Monastero), I had to wait 15/20 minutes, but it wasn't that big of a problem. The benefits of the card are way more than a few minutes at the ticket booth.
Lombardy + Aosta Valley region: the card also includes museums and more in the Aosta Valley region. If it's a part of Italy you want to visit as well, it's an even greater value for money
Piedmont + Aosta Valley region: another alternative is Piedmont + Aosta Valley, which includes just museum in those two region.
Lombardy + Piedmont + Aosta Valley region: you can also get this option which includes way more places in the 3 regions.
I didn't find the link for the page in English, so I would either recommend using Google Translate or follow your intuition. I'll leave you the link on the purchase page:
