Castellabate is one of the most charming medieval towns in Southern Italy. Located in the Cilento Coast, this small town is a must visit if you plan to visit this coast, which by the way is one of my favourites in Italy.

Okay, I might be biased here, as this is the area where I am originally from, but listen there is so much beauty around here that I want people to know places as beautiful as this one.

Castellabate is located on top a hill, offering incredible views over the Coast, on beautiful days, you can spot the Amalfi Coast, Capri and even Ischia. The town sits exactly on the opposite end of the Amalfi Coast.

If you are looking for a local alternative to the Amalfi Coast this is it, you'll find most Italians people here, mainly Neapolitans that come here to escape the chaos of the city.

In Castellabate you expect to find great food, lovely alleyways and amazing views.

To come here it's recommended to rent a car, as it will give you the freedom to visit Castellabate and the Cilento Coast more easily. But, if you plan to visit with public transport there are alternatives.

The best way to reach it is with the train. The closest train station is Agropoli, then you'd have to take a bus to reach Castellabate.

Personally, I would just visit Castellabate, and stay in Santa Maria di Castellabate (or San Marco di Castellabate for a quieter spot).

Castellabate was also featured on a famous Italian movie called "Benvenuti al Sud", which made the town pretty popular among Italians and some foreigners too!
