Starting point: Located roughly 40 kilometers northwest of Svolvær, Gimsøy is easy to reach via the E10. Turn onto the FV861, then follow FV862 north. Route: The route initially crosses the golf course, offering a unique juxtaposition of manicured greens against the rugged backdrop of the Lofoten landscape. The trail then transitions into a narrow, clearly defined path that gently ascends along the northeastern ridge. While the incline is manageable for most hikers, a few steeper sections may require a bit more effort. Due to the marshy terrain, especially after rain, sturdy waterproof boots are essential for comfort and safety. After about an hour of steady hiking, the summit reveals itself, marked by two cairns. Here, you’re rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views that stretch across the North Sea, the surrounding islands, and the striking coastline.
