Skinaria Beach (also known as Shinaria) is situated 33 km south of Rethymno and about 3 km from the village of Lefkogia, in the eastern part of the Plakias region. This small yet charming beach features soft gray-beige sand mixed with fine pebbles and is surrounded by amazing, crystal-clear deep blue waters. While much of the seabed is rocky, the northern section of the beach offers a sandy bottom.

The area is teeming with life, both on land and beneath the waves. Freshwater springs from Mount Kouroupa feed into small ponds along the shore, creating a lush environment that resembles a tropical setting. The marine ecosystem is equally vibrant, with the seabed considered one of the richest in Crete. You can encounter an abundance of marine life, including large moray eels, blackfish, octopuses, and various other sea creatures. The water is exceptionally clear, often providing visibility of over 40 meters. This outstanding clarity makes Skinaria a prime destination for scuba diving, and many dive centers on the island include it in their itineraries.

Although the beach is only lightly developed, there is a small tavern where you can find refreshments and rent umbrellas.

Access to Skinaria Beach is via a narrow road that begins in Lefkogia, stretching about 2 km before reaching the shore.

There is a parking area located down near the beach, making it easily accessible.
