Praia do Ribeiro do Cavalo ("Ribeiro do Cavalo beach") is a hidden paradise just 40 km away from Lisbon, in the Sesimbra area, in the district of Setúbal, Portugal. It combines both a rustic and exuberant atmosphere and is accessible by boat (departing from the Sesimbra Marina) and by foot, through a dirt trail. The 1 km long hike can take between 20-40 minutes depending on the visitor's familiarity with such a journey. Our recommendation is to always follow the red arrows painted on stones and trees, not to get lost or deviate from the main route. Using both hands can also help during the descent.

Many compare this beach with amazing destinations in Southeast Asia or in the Caribbean. The color of the water and the stunning landscape are elements that make you want to spend the entire day here!

The remarkable cliffs and rock formations really look like natural sculptures placed at the beach. The icy water of the Atlantic and the tiny round stones that populate the sand almost go unnoticed among this incredible environment.

Make sure you bring enough water and food for you to spend several hours here. There are no bars / restaurants nearby since this is a totally wild beach, without lifeguards.
