We share the 5 useful apps you may want to download for your Tanzanian safari!
Seek by iNaturalist: This app enables you to identify wildlife, plants and insects that you may come across on your safari! Take a photo and the app will suggest a species! You can also contribute to the global findings which we think is pretty cool! It's also free to use! This is a great app for beginners and is very family friendly.
Herdtracker: A real time app that shows the location of the Great Migration. Guides, camps and visitors log their sightings. It is completely free to use!
Google Translate: The main language spoken in Tanzania is Swahili and it's always great to brush up on a few basic local terms. Safari guides are able to speak in multiple languages, so even though this may not be needed on a guided safari tour, if you are heading out to the local communities, this may be very useful! This is also free to use!
XE.com: This is a great app for currency conversions and also provides live exchange rate information. This is free to use!
Maps Me: This is an offline navigation app, so really useful if you are heading on a self-drive safari and may have limited signal at times. You can download maps before your trip! The basic functionalities are free to use!
