If you’re camping in Cape Range National Park, Mesa Campground is the spot. Hands down my favourite site in the whole park—right amongst it all, with the most stunning beach just steps away. Waking up here feels like you’ve hit the jackpot, with crystal-clear water on one side and rugged Cape Range landscapes on the other.
The sites are spacious, and you’ll often spot kangaroos hopping through at sunrise or catch a wedge-tailed eagle soaring overhead. The snorkelling straight off the beach is unreal—loads of fish, and if you’re lucky, you might even see a turtle cruising by. It’s the perfect base for exploring places like Turquoise Bay and Yardie Creek without having to drive too far.
It’s a national park campground, so no pets allowed, and you’ll need to book ahead because it fills up quick. No reception out here either, which honestly makes it even better—just you, the beach, and some of the best stargazing you’ll ever see. Absolute magic!
