Gunhill Trail in Trinity offers a rewarding hike that's perfect for those looking to explore the natural and historical beauty of the area without committing to a strenuous trek. Starting near the Rising Tide Theatre, the trail quickly introduces a detour to a scenic lookout. This side path takes you down to a rocky beach with fantastic views of Trinity, providing a beautiful start to your hike.

Once back on the main trail, you have the option to choose between the shorter Upper Gun Hill route, which is about 1km, and the longer Lower Gun Hill path, which extends to 2km. I chose the Upper Gun Hill route, drawn by the promise of stunning views over Trinity Bay, and it did not disappoint. The panorama from the top is simply breathtaking.

At the lookout, you'll also find informative panels that delve into the history of Trinity. This area is part of the Discovery Geopark, recognized for its geological significance. Additionally, the site features two restored cannons and historical photographs from 1910, allowing visitors to visually compare the Trinity of today with its past.
