In Italy, overnight stays are only allowed in designated motorhome parking lots and campsites. To find the nearest place I use app Park4night.

There you can find parking lots, campsites and van service areas with detailed description, prices, opening periods and reviews of other van enthusiasts.

Be aware that campsites not working all the year and close for a midseason break. We had that problem while travelling Dolomites in October, but all parking lots and campsites that I share for free in this guide were open even in late October.

If you are traveling in an equipped camper with a toilet, shower and kitchen like we did, you will have to stop at the campground from time to time to use the service area. But you can mix it with free parking lots depending on your needs.

Most of campsites as Seiser Alm camping is better to book ahead as it usually fully booked. That’s why it’s better to plan your itinerary ahead as well - you can check my 5- and 10-day itinerary in this Dolomites Guide.

Keep in mind that supermarkets and groceries mostly close at 19:00 and also a lot of shops has a siesta break around midday. So don’t forget to save some time to buy some groceries for yourself.
