It’s a large, sandy beach with a distinct dark brown-coloured sand, pebbles and rocks to the left of the beach where you will notice the Greek flag flying on top of a rock. It is located on the southern end of the region of Heraklion, just 15 minutes away from the foothills of Mount Spathi.

In my opinion, the south coast of Crete, from Sidonia stretching all the way to Makrygialos is probably the most untouched area in all of Crete.

Take the drive from Sidonia all the way to Makrygialos and even the beaches of Xerokambos in the southeast: you’re in for some truly authentic towns and villages along your way.
