The Sunnegga funicular train takes you from the Zermatt village to the Sunnegga mountain at 2293m.

Open: late May to end of October.

Location: Vispastrasse 32, 3920 Zermatt • 7 min walk from Zermatt train station

Bus stop: Zermatt, Getwingbrücke (Green Line, 5 min ride from Zermatt train station - see schedule and stops)

The funicular is entirely underground, traveling through a tunnel through the mountain. The track is 1.5km, with a maximum gradient of 63.3%.

The funicular is used to access the Wolli playground. From Sunnegga, you transfer to the Blauherd gondola to access hikes like the Zermatt 5 Lakes Walk, Lake Stelli, and Flower Trail.

Timetable

The funicular is open 8:30 - 17:20, slightly longer hours July through early September. Check opening times.

The funicular runs every 10-20 mins, depending on demand. The journey takes 3 minutes.
