Kronberg is a beautiful mountain resort in the Appenzell region, with fantastic views of the Alpstein mountain range and classic rolling Swiss farmland.
The Alpine Panorama Trail, starting at the top of Kronberg and hiking down to Appenzell. It's an easy ramble starting along the ridge and ending in alpine meadows, all downhill.
Trail: moderate • 3h3' • 9.8k • 30m up, 870m down • trail map •
It's a great choice for spring, when the wildflowers are blooms. My pictures are from mid May.
The Kronberg resort has lots of amusements including an alpine coaster, zip line ropes course, and huge playground. You could do these before or after the hike.
