What you need to know
Spaniards are known for being warm and friendly, and understanding local customs can make your visit even more enjoyable. Mealtimes are later than in some countries—lunch is typically served from 1:30-3:30 PM, and dinner starts around 9:00 PM or later. When greeting people, a simple “Hola” (hello) and a friendly handshake or cheek kiss (for close friends or family) is common. In general, dress well when you go out, especially in the evenings—Spaniards take pride in their appearance.
