Hurtigruten port serves as the starting point for exciting adventures along the stunning Norwegian coast. It's where travelers embark on their Hurtigruten cruises, ready to explore breathtaking fjords, remote fishing villages, and epic landscapes along the Norwegian coastline. Rachel and I recently discovered Hurtigruten after looking for easy and fun ways to bring our car on longer trips from the north of Norway, where we live, to places further north or south. While road trips can be super fun, sometimes it's nice to kick back and watch the scenery go by while we travel. We also love taking these trips because they can be cheaper than gas + road tolls + any airbnb's you might need to book. We can also bring our pets (dog + cat) as they have super nice pet friendly rooms. A small tip is to make sure you keep an eye on the wind and weather forecasts for your route so you don't find yourself at sea in a storm - unless that's the kind of adventure you're after! Also be sure to check and see which boat you'll be taking as they have a variety - some are newer / more updated compared to others. We have found these trips to be super fun, relaxing and an easy way to avoid long winter road trips when weather can be tricky. If you're coming to Lofoten, you could consider taking Hurtigruten from Trondheim or Ålesund or even Bergen and having a bit of an adventure on your way to Lofoten. You can also take a boat from Lofoten, further north, up to Tromsø or Alta in the far north. This is definitely a bucket list adventure!
