Skomvær is one of the most magical places I've ever been. It's not easy to get to but if you find yourself en route to this magical, hidden away island and artist retreat, you should have a huge smile because few make this journey every year.

When you arrive, you'll look back on the amazing views you just experienced, the puffins wizzing by overhead, the towering cliffs and the islands you passed on the boat. You'll be experiencing one of the most amazing corners of the Lofoten archipelago, greeted by the flock of friendly sheep, the nesting sea and shorebirds, and a view of the massive lighthouse. As you walk up the path to the collection of white buildings you'll smell hot coffee and fresh waffles. Two of the few things you can buy on the island. It's truly incredible sitting there amongst the wild sea enjoying local strawberry jam on homemade waffles, fresh from the kitchen.

If you want to take a tour of the lighthouse, that can be arranged.

This is a trip that stands out as one of my favorite experiences of 2023. We saw orcas on the way home and thousands of puffins. The ocean was calm and the sun was warm. It was magic! When I close my eyes I can smell the fresh strawberry jam and feel that summer sun on my skin!
