Embark on a journey of breathtaking vistas and alpine wonders along the Alex Knob Track, a challenging hiking trail that promises adventure and awe-inspiring scenery.

Located near Franz Josef Glacier on New Zealand's South Island, this track weaves through dense rainforest, revealing the beauty of native flora and the soothing sounds of cascading waterfalls.

As you ascend, the trail opens up to expansive views of the Southern Alps, Franz Josef Glacier, and the lush valleys below. The final reward is reaching the summit of Alex Knob, where panoramic vistas unfold, showcasing the untamed wilderness in all its glory.

The Alex Knob Track is a perfect blend of challenge and reward, making it an unforgettable experience for hikers seeking an immersive encounter with the natural wonders of New Zealand's West Coast.

Photography info: We hiked up the track during the day and stayed overnight in our tent so that we could capture the sunset and the sunrise. The sunrise was definitely a better option for taking photographs of the glacier with a beautiful sky behind it, but the sunset was magical for the opposite side looking over the west coast.

Take your wide angle and mid range zoom lens with you on this hike.

It is very challenging but absolutely worth it for the views.
