Historic coastal beacon in New Zealand

Tuhawaiki Point, also known as Jack's Point Lighthouse, is a historic lighthouse located in New Zealand. It stands tall and proud, guiding ships safely through the waters with its bright beacon. The lighthouse has a rich history and adds a touch of charm to the coastal landscape in Timaru.

The short walk out to the lighthouse only takes around 20 minutes each way and there are some beautiful views over the coastline along the walk. If you time this area right (October/November I am told), the Canola fields are in bloom and the surrounding fields are a sea of yellow. If you have a drone this looks incredible from the air (unfortunately the fields weren't in flower when I visited).

Photography info: I visited this spot just before sunset and then as sunset was happening and it was a beautiful time to be there. During golden hour the lighthouse is lit with the sun and then at sunset the colourful sky can be seen behind the lighthouse and onto the beach. Take your wide angle (16-35mm) with you for this shot and as mentioned, time it right for the Canola fields in October/November.
