Te Waikoropupū Springs, also known as Pupu Springs, are located in Golden Bay, New Zealand. These springs are famous for their crystal-clear water and the large volume of water they discharge. The water is so clear that you can see up to 63 meters underwater!
The track takes around 20-30 minutes to complete is on a flat gradient the entire way on a well maintained path.
The springs are spiritually significant to the Māori people, and they are considered a sacred place. In 2023, the Environment Court granted the springs and their aquifer the highest legal protection with a Water Conservation Order. So, if you ever find yourself in Golden Bay, don't miss out on visiting these amazing natural wonders!
For photography I took these shots on my wide angle lens (16-35mm) and went during the day. It would be ideal to try and go on a cloudy day so the reflection on the water isn't so harsh.
