Hamilton Gardens is a beautiful public garden park located in Hamilton, New Zealand. It is a stunning 54-hectare park based on the banks of the Waikato River, with enclosed gardens, open lawns, a lake, a nursery, a convention centre, and the Hamilton East Cemetery.

It houses 21 different gardens representing various art, beliefs, lifestyles, and traditions from different civilizations or historical garden styles. The gardens are grouped into the Paradise, Productive, Fantasy, Cultivar, and Landscape collections, and also has space for gardens currently in development.

A visit to the park provides many wonders and surprises, including the exquisite Chinese Scholar’s Garden, the quaint Herb Garden, and the colourful English Flower Garden.

For photography the Hamiton Gardens is absolutely amazing especially during the Spring months of November and December when all the colourful flowers are in bloom. I would take your wide angle and zoom lens to be able to take landscape images and also close ups of the flowers. Opening hours are 9am - 5.00pm so for photography I would try visit at 9am for the softer light and then 4pm in the afternoon.
