Lake Grassmere Saltworks in Marlborough, New Zealand is a unique and fascinating lake areas that features large pink, green, yellow and brown ponds and sparkling white mounds of salt that form during the summer months. The process of natural salt production involves pumping seawater into the lake, evaporating it with warm north-west winds, and harvesting the salt crystals that form. The pink color of the ponds is caused by microscopic algae, creating a surreal and otherworldly landscape that's definitely worth a visit.

If you have a drone then you definitely need to come and visit this spot. We went during the midday which was the best time to get the full colour of the ponds. There is a gravel road that you can drive down beside the ponds and stop at any point to take photos. If you go right to the end you'll actually end up at the beach which has beautiful views of the Marlborough coastline.
