This walk is based near the Mangawhai Heads carpark and leads up to some epic views over the Mangawhai Heads Estuary and Coastlines in the area. It is such a great way to see the coast from an elevated vantage point and the walk to the top lookout is pretty easy and quick (20 mins up max!). The full trail takes approximately 4 hours to complete but I have yet to do the complete track.
The Goldschmidt Track is actually named after the original creator of the Mangawhai Walking Weekend, Jean Goldschmidt. The start of the track is directly opposite the public toilets and you will see a small sign saying Goldschmidt Track
For photography we just went up during day, however this would be a great spot for sunrise or sunset. Take your wide angle (16-35mm) and mid range zoom (24-70mm) lens with you for this one.
