Te Arai Beach Park is a magical hidden gem in the Wellsford region just north of Auckland, and offers a beautiful spot for sunrise and amazing astrophotography with next to none light pollution. The stunning white sandy beaches are great for early morning walks and this is a well known spot for great surf conditions.

The campground behind the dunes is perfect for staying overnight to catch the sunrise in the morning, but make sure your vehicle is self-contained to stay there.

For photography head up the path to your right for a beautiful overview of the famous Te Arai rocks and the long white sandy beach. You can also head down the rocks to explore. Head here for sunrise with the golden light shining in from the east onto the rocks. You'll want to take your wide angle and mid range lenses with you to this location (16-35mm and 24-70mm).
