Waipunga Falls is a dramatic roadside waterfall on the drive between Taupo and Napier, and is definitely worth the short stop of a looK! This forceful 40m plunge of the Waipunga River is segmented into three thick columns, making it quite a sight to behold.

You will see a sign for it and all you need to do is drive around 100 metres down that road and there it is.

If you can manage to photograph this on a cloudy day then you will capture the greens nicely. I was here in the middle of the day and the light was quite harsh but it was still a great way to stop and stretch the legs and marvel at the falls. Take your mid range (24-70mm) and/or wide angle lens (16-35mm) with you.
