Jardim Botânico José do Canto is located in Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel in the Azores. Founded in the 19th century by José do Canto (1820–1898), a prominent Azorean landowner, scholar, and philanthropist with a passion for botany and agriculture, the garden was named in his honor to commemorate his contributions in creating this unique space.

The garden is notable for its rich collection of exotic plants from around the world, including rare and unique species. With over 3,000 different plant species, it serves as an important center for botanical diversity. Within the grounds, you’ll also find the Nossa Senhora das Vitórias chapel, a neo-Gothic structure built by José do Canto in memory of his wife.

A visit to this garden is highly recommended for nature lovers, botany enthusiasts, and history buffs. Wandering through its shaded paths, you can enjoy the remarkable variety of flora, as well as architectural highlights like the chapel and the José do Canto mansion. The garden is open to the public daily, offering a peaceful escape and a glimpse into the rich botanical heritage of the Azores.
