The Christ the King statue is a beautiful and majestic symbol of Madeira, Portugal. Located in Garajau, this 15 meter-tall Art Deco masterpiece was built back in 1927 and consecrated on October 30th that same year. It is also known as The Sacred Heart statue. Created by French artists Georges Serraz and Pierre Charles Lenoir, it was financed by local lawyer Aires de Ornelas and his wife - four years before the creation of Brazil's famous Christ the Redeemer statue. To this day, guests can come admire its breathtaking artwork which evokes a sense of peace and serenity.
