One of my favorite things to do when visiting a new country is go to the local supermarket. I genuinely believe you can learn so much about a country’s culture by wandering the aisles and seeing what people eat and buy. When we were in Da Nang, Joen’s oldest niece, his sister-in-law, and I went wild in the fruit section. So many incredible fruits I had never even seen in Europe, It was like discovering a whole new world of flavors. Meanwhile, Joen and his brother were off in the sweets section, on what can only be described as a candy harvest.
The whole family ended up loving Lotte Mart. It’s not just a place to shop but it’s actually a fun experience in itself. I’d say it’s a “free” experience, but let’s be real, we bought a lot. And with the food court tempting us at every turn, it’s easy to lose track of time and money. If you’re in Da Nang, it’s worth a visit, but just know you’ll probably leave with more than you planned!
