Argyroupolis is a charming village in Crete, full of rich historical and cultural sights. It sits near the northern coast of the island, but offers visitors an escape from the hustle and bustle of coastal life—it's easy to find serene landscapes while exploring Argiroupoli's lush countryside. Visitors will find plenty to explore in nature--from plentiful springs to massive plane trees, as well as trout-filled creeks that feed inviting tavernas. There are also ancient remnants worth discovering, going back to the Geometric period, as well as remnants of Roman culture, Byzantine architecture, Venetian mansions and more. Plus, hopping over to some of the best beaches in the south, or even lake lounging at Kournas, Argyroupolis proves to be a great destination for any adventurous traveler.
