This café should definitely be a stopover during your Zagori road trip, especially if you visit the Papigo villages (Megalo and Mikro).

Koukounari (meaning: pine cone) is an ultra cute café in Megalo Papigo where you can enjoy lots of local delicacies. Many dishes are amazing, however I tried two of those and I think they’re not to be missed: the first one is the trahanas soup, made right on the spot. The second one is the cheesecake you see on the picture. The cheesy cream is made from goat cheese and what you see on top is homemade fig marmelade. Yum!

Also, inside the café you can buy books, ceramics and other homemade objects and art. I totally recommend it but perhaps not on a Sunday since it can get busy. We were there on a Friday in January and it was perfect.
