Kato Tithorea is a real gem in the Greek countryside.
Often overlooked, it's located in the plains of Fthiotis, the closest major city being Lamia. It's built right on the foot of Mt Parnassos, a mythical mountain in Central Greece. Parnassos has got mountainous towns, such as Agoriani, Arachova and Livadi which are the most popular ones. Especially Arachova is considered as the single most popular winter town in all of Greece. Though, the towns of Amfiklia, Tithorea and Kato Tithorea only get just a few visitors.
This thread is about 3 favourite food spots in the area, but also because this area is entirely unspoiled and has so much to offer.
1. The first one is called "Rooby", it's a small shop alongside the road that specializes in.. pomegranates! They make the best, purest pomegranate juices, jams, etc. Anything that has to do with pomegranate, they make it. You can even see their pomegranate trees right behind their shop, with the incredible view to the mountain. A stop along your drive is definitely worth it! Here's the Google maps location since it can otherwise be a little challenging to find it:

The second one is a traditional tsipouro taverna, in Greek we call this a "tsipouradiko" (τσιπουράδικο). Giorgos, the owner of the place, makes his own tsipouro with his wife and friends. Make sure you tour around and see the distiller. This place offers amazing food at a very, very slow pace. Everything about it, as you will come to notice, is slow and laid-back. The location is just amazing, among the olive grove, next to pomegranate and citrus trees. A tradtional house turned into a kitchen. Simple tables and chairs. There is no standard menu for this taverna, Giorgos asks you what you want to eat and gives you a few options. It really feels like visiting a house and the host cooks for you. Below is the Google Maps location so you can find it easily: https://maps.app.goo.gl/qNCUnbrbXzukxrpY7
The third one is as traditional and local as it gets. Get ready to taste the most delicious bread, pies, "tiropsomo" bread (bread with cheese), as well as the "tiganopsomo" (fried bread with cheese and olive oil). It's the Womens Cooperative of Kato Tithorea, called "Thimonia". It's a very simple shop and a bunch of super kind women. Make sure you ask them to show you how they make the pies in the kitchen!
