Now this is a place I will never get tired of seeing.
If you like dazzling blue waters (alright, who doesn't?), then this one is for you.
The volcanic islands of Milos, Kimolos and Polyaigos are full of fascinating spots along their coast, due to the interesting rocks and colours of the geology.
Polyaigos, the Aegean Sea's largest uninhabited island, has got one of the most amazing coastlines in the Aegean Sea. Literally every corner of the island is full of surprises. Though, this is definitely one of my favourite ones. It's called Galazia Nera (Γαλάζια Νερά in Greek), but you will also find it as Blue Bay. This is not a beach, it's a cove at the south of the island, so it's protected from the northern winds that are predominantly blowing in the Aegean Sea. The rocks are white as the moon and this is why the water has such a bright electric blue. It's ideal for snorkeling, there are always schools of fish about. Also, you might see some underwater caves here and there, as well as a sea turtle and if you're lucky..a monk seal!
Some other amazing spots around that you can also see on the same boat trip are: the lighthouse of Polyaigos in the north, Myrsini beach, Fanara cave, Sykia beach, as well as Ammoura beach, next to the lighthouse.
How to get there, you ask? Well, there are daily boat tours from Milos and Kimolos that go on a daily basis typically from May to late October. They don't only take you to Galazia Nera, but in other places as well, around Polyaigos but also in Milos and Kimolos. For example, the typical day tour from Milos begins at the port of Adamas at 9-10am, take you to Polyaigos and then proceed to go all around Milos, stopping at places like Gerakas, Tsigrado and Kleftiko, before taking you back to Adamas at around 5-6pm. You can also get the daily boats from the port of Pollonia, northeast of Milos.
Also, you can hire a private boat and do all of these places at your own pace. One of these companies that I recommend is called Excellent Yachting, based in Pollonia in Milos and if you contact them, feel free to mention my name and say hi from me!
