This trail starts at the Stoos Fronalpstock viewpoint and hikes down to the Stoos village. It has 9 activity stations along the way related to alpine life traditions.
Trail: easy • 2 h • 4.5 km • 579m descent
See trail map on Komoot • OutdoorActive
At the start of the trail, you can buy a wooden ball, which is used on the activities along the trail, like marble runs and balance mazes. There are also info boards telling stories about the alpine life (in German).
I would say the activities are not super exciting, just a small amusement along the way. Even without kids, I still like it, a beautiful and quiet walk, far from the crowds on the ridge and at the viewpoint.
The trail ends at a small manmade lake in the Stoos village where you can swim (very cold!) and fish with a license.
Shorter version: After about 40 mins of hiking, you can fork right and hike to the chair lift middle station and ride down to Stoos.
How to get there
Get to the Stoos funicular station - Grundstrasse 232, 6430 Schwyz. Bus stop: Schwyz, Stoosbahn.
Ride the funicular to the Stoos village. Then short walk to the Fronalpstock chair lifts. Ride up to the Fronalpstock viewpoint.
The trail starts next to the restaurant, where you see a sign with the trail map and dispenser for the wooden balls.
💡If you did the Stoos ridge trail and want to hike longer, you can skip the chair lift and continue hiking on this trail down to the Stoos village.
