The Sunnegga funicular train takes you from the Zermatt village to the Sunnegga mountain at 2293m.
From Sunnegga, you can access many hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as the Sunnegga playground. You can also transfer to the Blauherd gondola to ride higher up the mountain.
Open: late May to end of October. Daily 8:30 - 17:20, slightly longer hours July through early September.
Location: Vispastrasse 32, 3920 Zermatt • 10 min walk from Zermatt train station.
The funicular runs every 10-20 mins, depending on demand. The journey takes 3 minutes. The funicular is entirely underground, traveling through a tunnel through the mountain. The track is 1.5km, with a maximum gradient of 63.3%.
The ticket you purchase depends on which mountain railways you need to do your activity. It's best to buy your ticket at the Sunnegga office and explain your plans so you get the correct ticket. See current prices.
You get a 50% discount with discount with Swiss Travel Pass and Swiss Half Fare Card.
Children under 9 ride free with a parent. Children 9-15 are 50%. Dogs ride free. Mountain bike transport is included with your ticket.
All mountain railways on the Sunnegga mountain are included in the Zermatt Peak Pass.
