Le Moléson is the iconic mountain of the Fribourg Alps, offering an array of exciting activities for visitors.
Using a funicular and cable car, you can easily reach the spectacular viewpoint and enjoy the view from the restaurant's outdoor terrace.
Or you can hike up, starting in the beautiful alpine meadows and ending on the dramatic ridge leading to the peak. See hiking options.
Moléson is very popular for its Via Ferrata, with iron rungs embedded in the rock and over 1300m of safety cable along the route. You can rent equipment on-site and access the route the mountain railways and a hike. Learn more.
At the base of the mountain, you'll find a 559m long double-rail alpine coaster, no gondola required. They also have mountain scooters and mini golf.
To reach the top of Le Moleson, you ride a funicular train to Plan-Francey, then a cable car to the peak. If you plan to hike, you may skip one or both of these. So indicate that when purchasing your mountain railway tickets.
The Le Moléson funicular train is located near Rte du Moléson 228, 1663 Moléson-Village.
By car, it's about 40 mins from Montreux. There is a large parking lot next to the funicular station.
By public transport, take a rain to Gr, then bus to Moléson-sur-Gruyères. It's about 2h from Lausanne or Montreux.
