The Grandhotel Giessbach is perched on the mountain above Lake Brienz, directly next to the spectacular Giessbach Falls. You reach the hotel by boat and vintage funicular train, a unique stay in a peaceful nature park far from the tourist hubs.
Open: summer season late March to October.

The whole property is styled from the Belle Epoque era, with much of the furniture from the 19th century.
They have single and double rooms and suites that can fit 2 children on a sofa bed. Rooms have a waterfall view, lake view, or forest view.
Usually a 2 night minimum. Dogs are welcome (nightly surcharge), but must be on a leash around the property.
There is unheated natural swimming pool, free of chemicals, for hotel guests only.
They have multiple restaurants on site, for both day trippers and hotel guests.
Kehrli Terrace - casual dishes ordered at the counter, with informal cafe seating on their outdoor terrace, no reservations.
Elisa Bistro & Terrace - full service bistro serving tasty Swiss classics with pretty presentation. Seating on their lovely terrace with a view of the waterfalls and Lake Brienz. I suggest booking a table, especially on weekends, to avoid a long wait.
Parkrestaurant "Les Cascades" - more formal setting in their indoor dining rooms, classic French and Swiss flavors
By boat: You can ride a boat on Lake Brienz to the Giessbach (See) stop. From the boat dock, ride the funicular train up to the hotel and falls viewpoint.
You can catch the boat at Interlaken Ost (west side of lake) or Brienz village (east side of lake). See BLS boat schedule.
By car: You can reach the hotel by car, but you must drive on a winding mountain road, not my favorite. There is public parking and a small lot closer to the hotel, just for overnight guests. See parking on Google Maps. About 20 mins from Interlaken.
