After hiking at Pizol, you can reward the kids (and yourself!) with a fun ride 2.2 km down the mountain on a three-wheel go-cart. The route is a rough, sometimes steep road with lots of curves.
You use hand brakes to control your speed and help you navigate the turns. The carts are bouncy but surprisingly stable considering the rough terrain. My teens loved these carts so much!
You rent the go-carts at the Pizol Gaffia station and ride them down to the Furt station.
Children must be at least 120cm tall to ride alone. Younger children may ride double with an adult (in this case no charge for the child).
The carts come in multiple sizes to accommodate different heights. The staff will help you pick the correct sizing, making sure you can comfortably reach the pedals. But also make sure that your knees are not too close to your chest, as your knees tends to bump the center poles, which can be uncomfortable.
Helmets are provided. You can send your backpacks down the chair lift so they will be waiting for you at the end of the ride.
One ride on the cart costs CHF 13/adult and CHF 10/child. This does not include your mountain transport tickets, which are sold separately.
They offer a family ticket for 2 adults and all children under 17, which includes mountain transport up and down the mountain (so you can do a hike first) and 1 ride on the carts for each member of the family.
We typically do this after hiking the Pizol 5-Lake Trail, which ends at Gaffia. Or after the Panorama Trail, which ends at the Pizol hut, then ride the chair lift to Gaffia.
Note: if you arrive in the late afternoon with everyone else finishing the hike, the carts may be sold out already. So don't make any promises just in case.
