The trail is lovely ramble over rocky hills and through flower filled fields ending at an adventure playground and picnic area with a view of the Matterhorn.
The flowers are accompanied by informational signboards and labels (in English and German), which teach you interesting facts like which magical plant was used to restore a cow’s milk.
Great choice for families in the Zermatt area.
To reach this trail, ride a funicular train from Zermatt to Sunnegga, then a gondola to Blauherd. Then follow signs labeled "Blumenweg." The trail ends at Sunnegga where you can ride the funicular back down to Zermatt.
Trail: moderate • 4.6k • 135m up, 425m down
Locaton: Sunnegga Funicular – Vispastrasse 34, 3920 Zermatt
The trail is downhill and not difficult,. But it is a narrow dirt path and rocky, not suitable for strollers. It takes about 1.5-2 hours with small kids.
