Where: between Montreux & Interlaken
Times: 3h15 one way • 4 times per day in both directions • current schedule
Cost: train ticket or Swiss Travel Pass + seat reservation
Book seat reservations: www.gpx.swiss
For the GoldenPass Express, you need a train ticket and a seat reservation. If you have the Swiss Travel Pass, the train ticket is free and you only need to book the seat reservation.
You can book the ticket and seat reservation together or just the seat reservation via www.gpx.swiss. You must reserve seats, as they can sell out months in advance.
In 2024, the seat reservation costs CHF 20/person and a one way ticket Montreux to Interlaken costs about CHF 56/adult 2nd class full fare.
Note: The GoldenPass Express does not have a dining car, but you can bring your own food or order food packages in advance to be served during the ride.
All train cars have big panorama windows and comfortable seats. But for more comfort, the GoldenLine Express offers First and Prestige class.
The First Class carriage has bigger seats, which means you only have three across instead of four. First class requires a first class train ticket and seat reservation.
Prestige Class has large reclining seats with footrests and optional heating, a lovely feature for cold days. These chairs can be rotated by the train concierge, so you always face the direction of travel. First class requires a first class train ticket and a higher priced "Prestige" seat reservation.
If you can't book a seat on the GoldenPass Express for your desired day, don't worry. You can instead try the GoldenPass Panoramic or local trains that have a more frequent schedule and do not require reservations. The downside is that you have to change trains, usually twice, between Interlaken and Montreux. Learn more.
